There
was a long anticipation for this project in Japan...
finally here it is!!!

|
BeruKids (The Kids of Versailles), it's a series of
short stories, drawn by Riyoko Ikeda herself after long wait
by fans, praying for something new about VERSAILLES NO
BARA... [Into the pictures above, you
see the promos of the announce, circulated in Japan since
2004...] . Berukids project has been announced
and promoted in Japan since 2004 and even before, voices
were circulating about this new production. Finally, in the
middle of 2005, we had precise news about the publishing:
stories would have appeared on a weekly newspaper by Asahi (Asahi
Shinbun group), "Be-on Saturday", coming out every saturday
together with the main paper. The first story finally
came out on Be-On-Saturday, it was Saturday 1st October 2005.
The first cycle of stories has been serialized during 24
numbers plus one final edition with the resume of the whole
work: from 1st October 2005 until 24 December 2005 (right
one day before falling the 250th anniversary of Oscar's
Birthday, 1755-2005). Number on 31st December was missing
due to feasts for the end of the year, seralization started
again on 7th Jenuary and ended on 18th March 2006. On 25th
March 2006, we had the summary of the work.

Riyoko Ikedąs decision to publish "Berukids" on the pages
of a newspaper, intead of a simple magazine for girls, is
quite strange: for sure, this kind of papers are getting
much more public... it was a great promotion for the 250th
Anniversary of the Oscar's Birthday (falling on 25th
December 2005). Into these brand-new stories, our most
well known characters appear as children, while playing
funny roles: we see them recalling the most famous scenes of
the main comics but here Riyoko Ikeda jokes with them ...
and all scenes are ment to make we laugh off the events of
the story. This way of presenting Oscar, Andrč and the royal
family is really unusual for such a serious author like
Riyoko Ikeda... it was really hard to figure out something
like this, when waiting for this new brand of stories.
Riyoko Ikedąs art is brightly clear here! in facts, even
if all characters are funny, the author points perfectly to
the center of their roles into the main story: Andrč is
tender but dogged, daddy Jarjayes is always grave and solemn
while his family keeps from laughin in front of him... and
Rosalie always cries while Marie Antoinette dances and sings
among the locks of the king! And what about
Oscar??? She is baddest then ever and still she laughs all
the day! Ahah, as never done before!!
When the first cycle of the new Berukids stories ended,
they were already speaking about new cycles... at present
day we have already got 2 books and the Asahi group have
dedicated many online pages and services to these characters...

    While
Riyoko Ikeda Production was still
announcing the first serialization of the stories,
Bandai mark was already thinking to a brand new line
of toys... they started and spoke about BERUKIDS
GASHAPON one year before the release!!
This first collection of little toys was finally
released on 25th January 2006 (into the pictures,
you can view the original subjects taken by
Bandai...).
It was only the beginning... a couple of years
has passed and here a new page about the
BERUKIDS COLLECTION!
